BIO
Hojeong Kim is a combined Master and PhD combined student in BME, who joined the BCI lab in March 2023 as an IBS-UNIST collaborative student. With a bachelor's degree in biology from Kyungpook National University (2018-2023), Hojeong has a strong background in biology, which aids in interpreting brainwave analysis and brain-computer interactions. Hojeong's research focuses on neuromodulation, particularly using non-invasive ultrasound to induce brain activity and observe behavioral changes. A notable study confirmed that ultrasound can trigger brainwaves and behavioral responses (DOI: 10.1126/sciadv.adk3198). Current efforts are aimed at exploring ultrasound's potential for treating conditions like PTSD, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's diseases.
To study these effects, Hojeong employs electrocorticography (ECoG) in mice, with future plans to delve into spike detection, Neuropixels analysis, and possibly chemical experiments.
